This acrylic on canvas painting was inspired by the overgrown abandoned city of Chernobyl. After a nuclear disaster in the 80s, not many had hope that any sort of life would be able to exist there. However, the city is now overgrown with vegetation, and previously threatened animals like the Przewalski’s horse are now thriving due to limited human activity in the area. The idea of this painting was that a disaster happened in the city that caused it to be abandoned, and years later it now flourishes. That if nature is left alone, it will heal itself.
